Al Hammam: website, custom booking system, hosting & support from one team
Al Hammam Traditional Baths runs traditional hammams in Athens (Plaka) and Chania, Crete. For Nikos Marinakis we built the bilingual alhammam.gr, implemented the online booking system for both locations, and took over hosting and day-to-day technical support.
I want something similar →The client
Al Hammam Traditional Baths is one of Greece's best-known traditional hammams, with venues in Plaka, below the Acropolis, and at the Old Venetian Harbour of Chania. It offers hammam rituals with kese exfoliation and olive-oil soap, massages, facial treatments, couples' experiences, gift cards and exclusive use for private events. Its audience is half Greek, half international, and almost everyone books online before they arrive.
The situation before
A spa with two locations, dozens of services of different durations and a travelling audience has very specific needs. The problems to solve were several and interlinked:
- Manual bookings. Phone calls, messages and emails for every appointment, with the risk of double bookings and customers lost outside opening hours.
- Two locations, one brand. Athens and Chania have different services, prices and availability, yet the visitor must see one consistent experience.
- International audience. The site had to work flawlessly in Greek and English, with the same booking flow in both languages.
- An image worthy of the venue. A hammam sells atmosphere. The website had to convey it without becoming heavy and slow on mobile, where most tourists arrive from.
- Nobody on the spa team dealing with tech. Updates, security, backups and small changes had to be handled by us, not by the spa staff.
What we did
Four services, one result: a site that sells and bookings that close themselves.
Website development on WordPress
We designed and built alhammam.gr from scratch on WordPress with a warm hammam aesthetic: large photos of the venues, calm typography and clear booking calls-to-action on every page. The structure is organised around what the visitor looks for: hammam services, massages, facial treatments, couples' packages, gift cards, special offers and exclusive use for events.
Each location has its own page with its own services, the site is fully bilingual (Greek / English) and responsive, so a tourist opening it from a hotel room books in seconds.

Custom online booking system
The heart of the project. We implemented and configured Al Hammam's booking system so a customer books their experience in four steps: choose a service and location (Athens or Chania), pick date & time with live availability, then cart, then contact details. "Book now" opens from any page, without the visitor leaving the site.
Every service has its own duration and its own slots per location, so there are no double bookings and no appointment is lost because someone wrote in at midnight. The flow is identical in Greek and English.

Hosting on our own infrastructure
A site with many large photos and a booking engine that must respond in real time does not belong on cheap shared hosting. alhammam.gr is hosted on our own servers, with caching, daily backups, SSL, monitoring and protection from malicious traffic. When something breaks, we see it first, not the customer trying to book.

Technical support & evolution
The partnership did not end at launch. We handle WordPress and plugin updates, changes to services, prices and offers, new pages whenever something is added (such as exclusive use for events or the Hammam & Co Shop) and immediate resolution of any issue. The spa team looks after its guests. We look after the technology.

Results
Al Hammam now has a website that works as its main booking channel for both locations. Customers, Greek and international, book their experience online at any hour, without phone calls and without double bookings, while the spa team sees bookings organised by service, location and time.
Website, booking system, hosting and support are in one pair of hands, so every change, from a new offer to a new service, happens quickly and nothing "breaks". The client puts it better than we can.
"Αυτο το team εργάζεται σε ένα άλλο επίπεδο ! Φιλική προσέγγιση ,κατανόηση των αναγκών του πελάτη ,άμεση επίλυση των προβλημάτων που προκύπτουν και πολύ καλές τιμές . Συγχαρητήρια τους συστήνω ανεπιφύλακτα !"Nikos Marinakis, Al Hammam Traditional Baths (alhammam.gr) · Google review (original Greek text: "This team works on another level! Friendly approach, understanding of the client's needs, immediate resolution of any problems that come up and very good prices. Congratulations, I recommend them without reservation!")
