HotelHotel Social Media Marketing
The traveller dreams in January on Instagram and books in April. Instagram, TikTok and Facebook for hotels and holiday properties, with Reels, guest content, a 12-month calendar and a measured path from the video to the booking engine, so you know how many bookings each channel brought.
Hotel social media marketing works at the first stage of the booking cycle, inspiration: the moment when the traveller is not yet typing "hotel Thassos" into Google, but sees a fifteen-second video of an empty pool at seven in the morning and decides they want to be there. Instagram, TikTok and Facebook are the channels where a property sells the experience before it sells the room.
The problem with most hotel profiles is not the quality of the photos. It is that they post twenty room pictures in June, when the season's bookings are already made, and fall silent from October to May, when the German or British traveller is planning their summer. And even when the content is good, there is no path from the video to the booking, so nobody knows whether the channel is paying off.
At Qbrains we have managed social media and content since 2000 for 560+ clients, among them hotel properties such as Hilton Athens, The Met Hotel and Porto Palace and boutique properties such as Anmian Suites, Moderi and Lobelia Luxury Suites in Thassos. On this page we explain what a property posts, when, how a Reel connects to the booking engine, and what you should never post.
What does a hotel post on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook?
A profile that brings bookings is a mix of four kinds of content. First, the stay experience: breakfast on the terrace, the light in the room at six in the evening, the pool before anyone wakes up. Second, the destination: the beach twenty minutes away, the taverna you send your guests to, the drive from the port. Third, the people: your team, the guests who come back every year, the moments that are not staged. Fourth, the practical information a prospect looks for before booking: distance from the airport, parking, pets, check-in hours. Almost everyone skips the fourth kind, and it is the one that turns a follower into a booking.
The format changes per channel. On Instagram, Reels bring new audiences, Stories keep the relationship alive with people who already follow you and carousels work for destination guides. On TikTok, only vertical video with sound counts, with a hook in the first second and authenticity rather than polished editing. On Facebook live the families and the 45+ markets, the events, the destination groups ("Thassos travel tips") and the reviews. The same room video is cut differently for each platform, not copied across.
We always use the geotags and hashtags of the destination, not just of the property, because that is where the traveller who does not know you yet is searching. And we write captions in the language of the target market: a property that fills up from Germany does not post only in Greek.
How does a 12-month content calendar work for a seasonal property?
The traveller does not decide in July for July. The German plans their holiday from January, the Briton often books around Easter, Balkan and Greek guests closer to the date. That is why the content plan is written backwards from your season, in four periods with a different goal and a different intensity.
Winter (January – March): inspiration. Summer footage from last season, cut into Reels for the DE and UK markets, with captions in their language and destination geotags. The property is closed, the profile is not. Spring (April – May): offers and the booking window. Early-booking perks for booking direct, fresh photos from opening, "what's new this year", Stories of the preparations. Summer (June – September): live content. Daily Stories, guest content reposted with permission, excursions and experiences, last-minute availability. Autumn (October – December): the recap. The season's reviews as a carousel, a recap video, a thank-you to guests, the first announcement of next year's dates, and the collection of the footage that will feed next winter.
The calendar is agreed once, month by month, with topics, formats and who shoots what, and is reviewed after each season against booking data rather than impressions.
How does a Reel become a booking?
The question we hear in every first meeting is the same: all very nice, but does it bring bookings? It does, if there is a path. Instagram and TikTok do not allow links inside posts, so all the traffic passes through one point: the link-in-bio. It should not lead to the homepage, nor to a third-party tool with ten buttons, but to a landing page on your own domain, with the booking engine embedded in the flow, the current direct-booking offers and the answers to the three most frequent questions.
Every link, in the bio, in Stories, in ads, carries UTM parameters (source, medium, campaign) so GA4 can tell traffic from Instagram, TikTok and Facebook apart, organic and paid. In the booking engine we set up events for the availability search, the start and the completion of a booking, with the amount. At the end of the month the report does not say "reach 40,000" but "this many bookings, this much revenue, from this channel". The same tracking powers the property's direct-booking strategy.
Meta ads come after, not before. We look at which Reels worked organically (saves, shares, watch-through) and boost those, in the markets and age groups that book, aiming for traffic to the landing page rather than likes. The audience that watched more than 75% of a video becomes a retargeting audience for the booking period. That way organic content does not stop at the like, and budget does not go to creative that has not proven itself. See how we run Meta ads.
How do we use guest content, creators and the community?
Six practices that separate a hotel profile from a photo showcase.
UGC with permission, always
Guests' photos and videos persuade more than any professional shot, because they show the property as it is. We ask for consent before reposting, credit the creator, keep a record of permissions and obtain written permission for use in ads or on the website.
Creators with an audience in your market
For a property, smaller travel or food creators with an audience in Germany, the UK or the Balkans perform better than big names. We agree deliverables, usage rights for the material and ad disclosure before the stay.
Meta ads on the best organic content
We do not design ad creative from scratch. We boost the Reels that worked organically, in the markets and age groups that book, aiming for traffic to the landing page and retargeting of viewers within the booking window.
Destination geotags & hashtags
The traveller who does not know you yet searches the destination, not you. Every post is tagged with the location and the area's hashtags in the language of the target market, and the profile is connected to the local points of interest it shows.
Reviews as content
Reviews from Google, Booking.com and TripAdvisor become carousels and Stories with permission, especially in autumn. Negative comments get a short, polite public reply and the conversation moves to DMs, with an agreed protocol for crises.
Local partnerships
Tavernas, excursion boats, vehicle rentals, local producers: joint content with businesses in the destination grows both audiences, sells the experience "around" the property and gives the prospective guest practical answers.
Who replies to guest messages?
Community management is the part most properties underestimate and the part that decides whether the channel brings a booking. A prospect who asks in a DM "do you have availability 12 to 19 August for four people?" and gets a reply the next day has already booked elsewhere. We handle comments, mentions and messages with an agreed tone and response time, and forward anything about a specific booking to reception.
For the repetitive questions, which are more than half, we recommend an AI assistant on Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp, trained on your own data: availability and rates through a connection to the booking engine, check-in hours, parking, distance from port and airport, pets, breakfast, cancellation policy. It replies 24/7 in several languages, sends the booking link with UTM and hands over to a human whatever it does not know or whatever needs judgement. Your team approves the texts and sees every conversation. See how we set up AI services for businesses.
What does a hotel never post?
There is content that costs bookings. The most common is the same room from five angles, with no person, no light, no reason. Next come stock photos or third-party destination photos, which are neither yours nor look real. And the "Have a nice week" posts with a logo, which fill the calendar without saying anything to anyone.
| We post | We do not post |
|---|---|
| The property in real light, with people and moments | The same room from five angles with nobody in it |
| Our own shots and guest content with permission | Stock or third-party photos of the destination |
| Practical answers: distance, parking, pets, breakfast | Generic greetings with a logo ("Have a nice week") |
| The rate that applies, or the link to the booking engine | Public rates below the OTAs, if your contract forbids it |
| A reply to every comment, positive or negative | Deleted negative comments or public arguments with a guest |
| Guests only with explicit consent | Faces of guests or children without permission, car plates |
And one rule about price: if your OTA contract includes rate-parity clauses, we do not advertise a lower public rate. We advertise the benefit of booking direct, the breakfast, the flexible cancellation, the transfer, the members' rate in the newsletter. We explain this in detail on the direct bookings page.

- Review of your last 30 posts: content mix, formats, geotags, market languages
- Comparison with three properties in your destination on frequency, formats and reply times
- A proposed 12-month calendar with the four periods and the intensity per month
How do we run a hotel's social media?
From the profile audit to the report of bookings per channel.
Audit & target markets
We assess the existing profiles, the link-in-bio and the tracking, and use your booking data to define which markets (Greece, Germany, the UK, the Balkans) and which age groups we speak to, in which language and on which channel.
12-month calendar & material
We write the calendar across the four periods, organise the base photo and video shoot, and set up the flow for collecting content from your team and your guests, with permissions.
Landing page, UTM & GA4
We build the link-in-bio destination page with the booking engine in the flow, UTM parameters on every link and booking events in GA4 and the Meta Pixel, so every booking is attributed to its channel.
Production, publishing & community
We produce and publish Reels, Stories, carousels and posts per channel, reply to comments and messages, boost proven content with Meta ads and coordinate creators where it makes sense.
Reporting & next season
A monthly report with traffic, bookings and revenue per channel, and a post-season review: what worked in which market, what gets cut, what grows. The next calendar is written from that data.
