Emmy: a lingerie eShop that took 12 seconds to load and now loads in 3
Emmy sells women's lingerie, swimwear, sleepwear and men's underwear through the emmy.gr eShop and two physical stores in Trikala, Greece. We took over the eShop's hosting, carried out the speed optimization that cut its load time from 12 seconds to 3, and provide its technical support.
I want something similar →The client
Emmy is a women's lingerie and swimwear retailer with two physical stores in Trikala, central Greece, and an online store, emmy.gr. Beyond lingerie and swimwear, the range includes sleepwear and men's underwear.
emmy.gr runs on WordPress and WooCommerce and has a very large catalogue, with around 8,800 product pages. In a store like this, each product usually comes with several variations and photos, which puts weight on both the server and the visitor's browser.

The problem
Before the optimization, emmy.gr pages took around 12 seconds to load. For a fashion eShop, that is far too long. Visitors arriving from a phone, an ad or a Google search do not wait. They close the page and open the next result.
- Shopping experience. In a catalogue of thousands of products, customers open many pages before they buy. Every delay adds up across the whole journey.
- Google search. Speed and page experience are part of how Google evaluates a site.
- Advertising. A paid click that lands on a slow page risks never turning into a sale.
What we did
We did not build emmy.gr. We were brought in to make it fast, host it and support it.
Speed optimization from 12 to 3 seconds
In a WooCommerce store of this size, speed is not decided in one place. The server, the database, images, the theme and plugins all play a part, and they all affect each other. That is why the optimization treats the site as a whole rather than as a list of quick fixes.
The result was concrete. The load time of emmy.gr dropped from around 12 seconds to 3. The same store, with the same catalogue, now opens much faster for its visitors.

Web hosting on our own infrastructure
emmy.gr is hosted on our own infrastructure and its technical support is in our hands. That way the speed we achieved is not a one-off fix, and we look after it along with everything else in the eShop.
Because hosting and optimization are handled by the same team, whenever something changes in the store, such as new products, new collections or updates, we also see it from the server side.

Technical support
An eShop with thousands of SKUs needs ongoing care. Through technical support we handle updates and fix issues quickly, so the store stays fast and stable and the Emmy team can focus on its customers and stores rather than on the server.

The outcome
emmy.gr now loads in around 3 seconds instead of 12, without changing the catalogue and without needing a new eShop. Hosting and support sit with the same team that did the optimization, so speed stays in the same hands as everything else.
Emmy shows something that holds true for many stores. A slow eShop does not always need to be rebuilt from scratch. Often it needs proper optimization and proper hosting. We took on speed, hosting and support in the same way for the Tataropoulos jewellery eShop.
