The client

Kilkis General Hospital has been operating since 1928 and today has over 15 departments and 215 beds. According to an official report by the Ministry of Health, it ranks among the top five hospitals in Greece.

An award-winning public institution of this calibre needed an online presence worthy of its reputation — and this was its first one ever.

The challenge

We were tasked with creating the hospital's online identity from scratch, with the development of its first website. The first time is always the hardest: there was no precedent, and no room for mistakes for a healthcare institution that serves thousands of citizens daily.

The website had to be immediately accessible, render flawlessly on every device, and be exceptionally fast — because when someone is searching for health information, every second counts. We set out to build the fastest, most user-friendly, and most visually appealing hospital website in Greece.

The solution & implementation

We chose WordPress, the world's most widely used and easy-to-manage CMS, so that each hospital department could update its own content without technical knowledge. We set up different user roles with clearly defined permissions for each.

The entire design was responsive, ensuring a flawless experience on mobile, tablet, and desktop. And because we didn't want just fast but lightning-fast, we minimised requests (JavaScript, CSS), added caching & acceleration, and ran everything on one of the fastest web servers in the world — Nginx.

The results

The website was completed in just one month. Based on international measurement tools, it loads in just 1.32 seconds, with only 80 requests and a homepage size under 1.8MB.

Most impressively: it is one of the few websites globally to receive an A quality grade from an international organisation. A result that places this public institution ahead of countless private businesses.
